The Traverse City Baby Boom

Joe and Sarah Hardy gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl at 11:45pm on the 4th of July!!! Her name is Liberty ( Libby) Michelle. Last night, we had a chance to see all of them at the hospital and get an inside look at what to expect when we go back in January. Liberty is so adorable, I always get the impression that newborns aren't the easiest things to look at, and I honestly can't remember the last time I had seen one. Boy did Sarah make it look easy! She was sitting in the room, hair done and looking great, like she didn't even break a sweat. Surely not the image I get when Michelle and I are in the same situation. I imagine after the baby is born, Michelle may not even want to look at me for a few days ( and possibly wishing bad things upon me, like a kidney stone) ......out of pure revenge for what I have done to her. I was so excited after holding Libby, it really is the most incredible thing. I am feeling much better about the whole thing now, and I can hardly wait to see my little creation for the first time.

The room at Munson was very nice. It looks like a fancy hospital room with cool little wood cupboards, and then transforms into an all out surgical center....where the ceiling opens up and a light comes down. The cupboards open open up to reveal a huge array of equipment. Things have changed since my baby days. The great thing about this year is that we have two more friends who will be giving birth before Michelle.......about 2 weeks before! So we should not have any more questions as to what is going to happen when it's our turn. I got quite a bit of information last night.....a little more than I wanted to be exact. The female anatomy astounds me, but that is really nothing new.

We are heading south this weekend to celebrate Brook's 5th birthday, in Kalamazoo. That's always a great time. There are WAY too many girls in this family. Our baby has to be a boy for us to retain balance to the force.

The useless advice for today comes from a true event in my life, and I would like to tell my son or daughter, that if you want to be an escape artist....please have a friend around when you practice.......preferably not your sibling.

How do you catch a polar bear? First, you cut a hole in the ice about 6 ft around. Then you need to place pea's all the way around the hole ( they have to be touching each other). OK, now hide someplace not too far away.....and when the polar bear goes up to eat the pea's......kick him in the ice hole. :)
Oh, whatever.......it's not a dirty joke.
